I am glad to inform you that the “Cannabis Regulation Bill” has satisfactory passed its first approval at the Lower House in the Uruguayan Parliament.
The Parlamentarian Drug Commission approved in July the Cannabis Regulation Bill in which the Industrial Hemp Farming Issue is included. Today, the Lower House has approved the proposal and it is now scheduled to be discussed in the Upper House in the following weeks.
As it was mentioned in my presentation at the EIHA conference last year, I expect that this proposal would be fully approved and enacted by the Uruguayan Parliament this year. I will keep you informed on this issue.
We have been working very hard for more than six years to adapt the legal framework to develop hemp harvest and industrialization through partnerships with worldwide producers and also to enable the opening of Latin American markets for hemp products and promoting this industry with the collaboration of Phil Warner and Anndrea Herman. We have been conducting the first industrial hemp trial crop in Uruguay since 2010 as a partnership with Ecofibre Industries and Infintfiber.
I would like to invite you to join us in the development of the hemp industry in South America.
If you need more information, do not hesitate to contact us
Best regards,
