Dear Sir,
First of all I would like to wish you an excellent year start.
And then, let me first remind you of myself since we have met and discussed together at the EIHA 2009 conference about our national project in Lebanon. My name is Dominique Choueiter and I am currently the Project Coordinator assigned by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the Industrial Hemp Project in Lebanon.
Last year, we were planning to continue our project that started in 2007 but the imported hemp seeds for cultivation from France and Canada (7 tons) were blocked at the customs because they were confused with marijuana seeds. After several months of negotiation with the concerned governmental institutions, the issue was finally solved but the seeds were spoiled meanwhile and our project was considerably delayed. Hence, this year we are planning to undertake large scale cultivation trials and we promised the farmers to purchase a combine harvester for them if the trials were successful. But, after checking with John Deere, we realized that the price of a new combine is far away above our budged. Thus, we are exploring the possibility of getting a second-hand John Deere combine from the series 9500-9600.
However, when I raised this issue with you at the conference, you have suggested me to purchase one from the closed farms in Germany because as you mentioned, they are really in good status and at the same time they are of a really good bargain.
As such, I will appreciate your help in providing me some leads to get in touch with those combines’ owners, some trustful ones maybe, and any connection of yours or friends.
We count on your support and on the EIHA support as well to help us succeed in promoting hemp cultivation in Lebanon that is not only a pilot project at a national level but also a regional one for the Middle East and the Arab World.
Waiting your reply at your earliest convenience,
Thank you in advance,
Sincerely yours,
Dominique Choueiter
